Many people decide last minute where they should go on their holiday, opting mostly by vehicle to detinations all over Europe. At the beginning of this summer period in Europe, and after a long period of unprecedented confinement, there is a high level of traffic on European roads, as well as an increase in the number of assistance interventions. Foreign breakdown organisations are currently saturated, with the direct consequence of longer waiting times for assistance, as well as a shortage of replacement cars. The Automobile Club of Luxembourg recommends having your vehicle checked before undertaking long journeys. Indeed, long journeys put a lot of strain on the vehicle's mechanics in specific conditions (severe traffic jams, high heat). Get your vehicle checked, simply make an appointment in a garage or at the ACL Diagnostic Center. These checks focus on the safety and reliability of the vehicle before taking to the road and ensure safe arrival. It is advisable to make an appointment 2 to 3 weeks before the scheduled departure, in case repairs have to be done or if parts must be replaced. If there are any doubts about the reliability of the car, we recommend that you opt for a rental car. These are regularly maintained and guarantee a trouble-free journey. In case of a problem on the road, the ACL Assistance Centre will do its utmost to find a rapid solution for a continuation of the journey as soon as possible. The ACL is also available to answer any questions about the best routes to take and the expected traffic on all European roads, as well as adopting the right reflexes for a trouble-free journey.
